Carbon Capture
Utilization & Storage
Recognizing that carbon dioxide (CO₂) is a prevalent greenhouse gas in U.S. Gulf Coast natural gas pipelines, Coastal Bend LNG removes CO₂ from the pipeline gas for treatment, transfer, and safe underground sequestration, minimizing the facility’s environmental impact. In line with this commitment, Coastal Bend LNG is collaborating with Halliburton, a leader in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies, to implement effective CO₂ management solutions.

Reducing Emissions
Implementing a comprehensive Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program to promptly identify and eliminate fugitive emissions.
Continuous Learning
Training operators using dynamic simulation to optimize startup procedures and minimize flaring.
Protecting the Environment
Utilizing Selective Catalytic Reduction, Thermal Oxidizers, and H₂S scavengers to treat waste streams and minimize emissions, thereby maintaining air quality.
Utilizing Technological Innovations
Evaluating best available technologies, such as drone surveying for detecting fugitive emissions and Advanced Process Control to reduce upsets and improve efficiency.
